Latest Project - Quilting

So I didn't get the chance to make Rosalie anything before she was born, and I decided I wanted to make her a blanket, so I looked up online how to do it an voila, a rag quilt:
The hardest part was cutting up the edges after I sewed everything together. It is not perfect, but I had a great time doing it. I think I see more projects in the future.

In other news, my good camera broke this week and is in the repair shop. The man said that someone had dropped it, so something is loose in the lens. It will be back in two weeks, but I was so sad, so no good pictures for a while.

Getting Crafty

So I have several friends that are having babies this winter and decided I wanted to make them a little gift to give them, here is the result for girl gifts, a ruffle bottom onsie.

I used Rosalie as a model, that is the size she just barely grew out of so it fits tight, and she wasn't too thrilled to have me putting anything on her. And yes, I did put it over her pants because it was just so much easier.

New Hobby

I have found a new hobby. I just needed something new to do to keep me entertained, and I had a few baby shower gifts to make so I decided to take up sewing/crafting. I called my friend Mallory, a home-ec teacher to help me get my sewing machine up and running. And I went to the fabric store, so much fun, I just wanted to buy everything. There are so many beautiful fabrics I had a hard time only getting a few. Then I got started. I first made a few tie onesies for my friend's little baby boy Max. Then I decided to try something girly and make some fabric flowers. I love how they all turned out. The onesies I sewed the tie on after using an iron-on applique so that they wouldn't fray. The flowers I made by hand.
This hobby totally beats the alternative of what I would really like to do. I want to be the most amazing baker, but I feel like I would gain 50 to a 100lbs if I started making everything I want to try. So I have started with sewing. I think I will try the baking thing when we have a bigger budget for ingredients and I have more time to spend at the gym to work off everything I have tasted while I am baking. I one day would like to own a bakery, that way I can make things and not worry about eating them all by myself. But for now I will sew.

I love photoshop and all the funny things that you can do with it.

Camera Practice

It is very hard to practice taking pictures and learn how to use my camera when no one will pose for me. So this weekend I used Sean's family dog, Lucy, as my subject. She was way more cooperative than Sean, but it is hard to make a dog go and sit in different backgrounds and do what you want without the use of treats, and I just didn't feel like smelling like dog treats, so most of these are candids. I also took some pictures of the pretty flowers and some from a bridal shower I went to. It was fun being able to use my new camera, it is awesome! Let me know how I am doing and if you have any photography tips.
